Ideal for home auto work, DeWalt’s 1/2-inch electric impact wrench is a burly, no-nonsense tool that delivers 240 foot-pounds of torque and 2,700 impacts per minute. The tool is well balanced, weighs 7 pounds, and is 10-7/8 inches long.
The trigger, a two-finger toggle switch, lets you comfortably rotate between forward and reverse–a feature especially handy for rocking loose stuck nuts. The impact wrench also features a detent-pin retainer that lets you lock a socket on the anvil (to remove, you depress the detent using a small pointed object, then simply pull the socket off).
The motor’s brushes are easily accessible and replaceable, too, and thanks to DeWalt’s advanced brush system, which automatically stops the tool just before the brushes wear out, you’ll know when it’s time to replace them. All in all, an impact wrench isn’t a particularly complex tool: you want one that’s solidly built and packs plenty of power. DeWalt’s DW290 is exactly that. –Jon Groebner
The DW290 has saved me: time, knuckle/arm injury and expense. It’s given me lot’s of confidence to take on almost any car repair. It’s loud, works well, and DeWalt yellow so your neighbors know you are serious professional. a customer
I bought this tool to remove the bumper bolts on my GMC Jimmy. The DeWalt impact zipped them out with no problems. This impact also easily zipped out the crossmember bolts when I was installing a brush guard on my truck. This tool is also wonderful for changing tires. The lug nuts flew off like they were on fire. This is a great tool and I recommend it to anyone working on cars! bandit01

Big and heavy, but built for a lot of continuous use – plenty of ventilation and the case and sockets that come with it are perfect and built well. Air wrenches are the way to go if you are looking for precision, though. With this electric and any other one, you need to finish off your job with a torque wrench. anthony
I bought this primarily to put on and take off snow tires on my own cars and it seems like a very good solution for non heavy duty use. It certainly beats taking off lug nuts manually. I’ll probably find many more uses for it in construction and I did not want to have have to find and fire up a compressor for each use so this electric model is perfect. It looks fairly well made and if Kawasaki is proud enough to put their name on it, then it might hold up reasonably well. peter
This item is very good. Has plenty of power to remove lug nuts on cars and trucks. Also I will be using it to disassemble engines. For the price, weight and power I don’t think you can beat it. robert
i needed this to remove the bolts on the phlange of my car exhaust. it took the nuts right off, with no hesitation. i only used it that once, so my thumbs up is somewhat limited, but thumbs up! cliffdiver53
Great tool, great price. Had a problem lug nut that wouldn’t budge with this tool, but was able turn with a 24″ breaker bar after applying WD40(and 255lbs jumping on it). I haven’t had much experience with pneumatic impact wrenches, so it’s hard to compare. It certainly beats cranking up a large air compressor. male nurse
I use this to work on my old jeep, and change/rotate tires on all of my vehicles. I have used it to install bumpers, a lift kit, and nerf bars on my jeep. It is fast, powerfull, and esy to use. It comes with a great case and the 4 sockets as seen. I have not had any problems with this impact wrench, and for the work I do I don’t forsee needing to replace it anytime soon. I had heard I should spend the extra money to buy something heavier duty, but am glad I didn’t. This thing is overkill for 99% of the work I do. I am not a mechanic, and do not use it daily, but I installed all the stuff listed above on my jeep with this and it worked great. d-bo
I purchased this tool to remove my vehicle’s Lugs in a snap. This tool makes my brake changing jobs a lot easier. Make sure you purchase the deep socket impact wrench set. rodriguez

This thing will remove your log nuts with ease. Be careful when tightening this thing is a monster. meir
Make no mistake.. it may be electric, but this thing is a very serious tool. First, it is BIG and HEAVY. The Amazon “Product Details” lists it at 17.2 LBS which sounds accurate. It will give your wrist a workout just holding it up, but it is worth it for the shear power it pumps out. It removes lug nuts with ease. I performed a brake job with it, and it saved me a huge amount of time and work. Because it is so powerful, it really doesn’t twist in your hands as I expected it would. ian
